Izhevsk and Minsk signed an Agreement on mutual cooperation


On February 25, the Head of the City of Izhevsk Oleg Bekmemetev and Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Alexander Dorokhovich signed an Agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.

The parties agreed to establish ties between the local authorities of Izhevsk and Minsk and the business entities of the two cities. The signed agreement is aimed at developing effective forms of joint production, scientific, technical and entrepreneurial activities, creating joint ventures, implementing mutual deliveries of raw materials, industrial and technical products and consumer goods, food, developing and implementing joint investment projects, developing tourism, conducting tourism educational internships, exchange tours of cultural institutions, etc.

The Head of the City of Izhevsk Oleg Bekmemetev emphasized, ‘Partnerships with the Republic of Belarus, the positive experience of interaction throughout the years and historically established friendly relations between the Udmurt Republic and Belarus open up broad prospects for the further development of cooperation in various fields. In the framework of economic cooperation, a list of investment projects has already been prepared, according to which it is possible to attract Belarusian organizations to participate in the Udmurt Republic and vice versa. Of course, the interaction between the two capitals should be in priority.’

It should be noted that Izhevsk and the cities of the Republic of Belarus have had diverse contacts for many years.

In November 2016, an Agreement on the establishment of twinning relations and cooperation was signed between Brest and Izhevsk. In June 2017, at the Forum of the Regions of Russia and Belarus in Moscow, an Agreement on cooperation was signed between the Izhevsk City Council and the Brest City Council of Deputies. Since 2013, cooperation has been carried out between the Oktyabrskiy district of the city of Izhevsk and the Partisan district of the city of Minsk within the framework of the signed Agreement on Economic Cooperation.

Since 2015, a large-scale project has been implemented to organize mutual visits of students of the cadet corps of the cities of Izhevsk, Votkinsk and Brest.
